Carson City man charged with arson in East Appion Way fire
A Carson City man arrested earlier this week for allegedly making threats has been charged with felony first degree arson after investigators believe he intentionally started a fire at an East Appion Way residence, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Clinton Gore, 59, a resident in the 100 block of East Long Street, also faces a felony charge of aggravated stalking, and a gross misdemeanor charge of making threats. The original misdemeanor charge of making threats was amended Friday, said Furlong. Gore is being held on $25,000 bail.
According to the booking report, Gore made threatening phone messages to the victim that were played for a sheriff’s office detective. He admitted to investigators Tuesday of making the phone calls but denied intentionally setting fire to the front door residence, which was extinguished, and flattening the victim's tires.
Furlong said the arrest is not related to the two incidents of arson at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum in North Carson City early Sunday and Monday mornings.
The arson investigation with the Foreman-Roberts House is active and open, said Furlong. Anyone with information regarding these fire related incidents is asked to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 283-7851, or the Communication Center at 887-COPS.
