Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Ex-felon busted for repeatedly soliciting motorists

A 52 year-old transient man was arrested Friday afternoon at 1:04 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on misdemeanor charges of ex-felon failing to register and soliciting motorists, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, the suspect had been warned the day before by a Sheriff's sergeant about soliciting motorists.

He was found soliciting again Friday in the same place by the same officer, who stopped and questioned him.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch showed the suspect was an ex-felon out of Elko, convicted of burglary, possession of stolen property, and drugs.

He was last registered in Elko in 2016, the report said.

The suspect was aware he was supposed to register, and stated he had 10 days to do so. But from previous contact, the suspect had told officers he had been in Carson City for more than month.

He was handcuffed at that point and taken into custody, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $250.

In other arrests:

— A 35 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 8:12 p.m. in the area of East William and State streets for misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and suspended vehicle registration, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a brown pickup was stopped at a DUI checkpoint, showing suspended registration.

Contact was made with the driver, who was smoking a cigar and displayed red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the report said.

The suspect stated he had drank one beer that evening. He consented to field sobriety testing (FST), which demonstrated signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test (PBT) was also consented to, showing breath alcohol content (BAC) of 0.097 percent.

He was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 34 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 9:18 p.m. in the 800 block of East William Street for misdemeanor first-offense DUI alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy had responded to a domestic dispute call, and while he was en route, the male subject had left the area in a silver station wagon.

Once on scene, the deputy observed the male subject return to the apartment complex, pulling halfway into a parking spot and exiting the driver's seat with the keys still in the ignition, the report said.

The suspect then got on his knees and placed his hands behind his head without any instructions from law enforcement, the report said.

When asked why he had placed himself in an arrest position, the suspected stated he knew he was going to jail.

The deputy smelled an odor of alcohol on the suspect's breath as he spoke, and he displayed red, watery eyes as well as slurred speech, the report said.

The suspect admitted to having drank two beers earlier, and he consented to both FSTs and PBT.

He failed to perform the FSTs satisfactorily, the report said, and yielded BAC of 0.203 percent on the PBT.

The suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 30 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon at 5:44 p.m. in the 800 block of East Musser Street on a felony stalking order violation warrant, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a bail bonds business notified law enforcement that a client was on his way over with a no-bail bench warrant issued by the Third Judicial District Court in Lyon County.

A Sheriff's deputy then waited for the suspect to arrive and made contact with him.

Jimmy Perez was then handcuffed and taken into custody once the warrant was confirmed through Carson City Dispatch. He was booked into the Carson City Jail on a no-bail hold.

— A 25 year-old Dayton woman was arrested Friday afternoon at 1:17 p.m. at the Carson City Sheriff's Office after she had arrived to turn herself in, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, the woman came up to the front counter of the Sheriff's office to turn herself in on an outstanding contempt of court bench warrant for failing to appear in Carson City Justice Court.

Once the warrant was confirmed through records check, the suspect was handcuffed and escorted to the Carson City Jail, where she was booked. Bail: $500.

All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The policy of Carson Now is to name anyone who is arrested for a felony offense.
