Douglas County Sheriff's Office: Woman found dead in Gardnerville home, standoff ends with man taken to hospital
UPDATE: 11:45PM: Douglas County authorities say a standoff at a Gardnerville home ended Tuesday night with one woman dead and a man taken to the hospital for unknown medical reasons. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
Douglas County Sheriff’s CNT and SWAT team members made contact with the male suspect inside the residence with the use of a robot, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks. The man appeared to be in medical distress and the SWAT team made entry and extricated him, who was then transported to the hospital.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence at approximately 11:25 p.m. and they have begun the investigation. The male has not been placed into custody at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
All roads into the Chichester Estates are open and there is not threat to the public.
UPDATE 10:30PM: Standoff appears to be over, according to Douglas County Sheriff's Office dispatch via scanner. Details are forthcoming as soon as they become available.

A woman has been found dead inside a Gardnerville home Tuesday night and a man was barricaded inside the residence, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
At around 7:30 p.m., Douglas County deputies were called to the 1400 block of Edlesborough Circle in Gardnerville for a suspicious circumstance report. When deputies arrived they found evidence of a crime, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.
Deputies made entrance into the residence and found a female victim dead in the living room and a male barricaded inside the residence. Douglas County Sheriff SWAT and CNT units responded to the scene and continue to make assessments as of around 9:30 p.m.
The main road into Chichester Estates is closed at this time and the sheriff’s office is asking the public to remain clear of the area.
