Breaking bread to feed the poor: Interfaith Community Picnic and Food Drive
The Interfaith Community of Carson City announces their seventh annual interfaith potluck picnic and food drive on the lawn of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. All members from the community are invited to attend this Labor Day.
Last year more than 300 brothers and sisters from all faiths gathered together for food and fun, and even more expected this year. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church once again has graciously volunteered the use of their lawn area at the corner of Division and Telegraph, Carson City, on Monday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. All members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend.
This year, Father Chuck from St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community will lead a combination of singers from the Catholic and Methodist faiths. In addition, Boy Scouts will be on hand to accept generous nonperishable food donations for F.I.S.H.
All attendees should bring a main dish, salad, side dish, or dessert to share in the potluck. In honor of Mother Earth, please bring your own set of plates, eating utensils, and lawn chair. The interfaith council will provide chilled bottled water.
