Carson City man jailed for domestic battery following argument over bedroom fans
A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested at a Salmon Drive residence for suspicion of domestic battery second, a sheriff's deputy report said.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence in reference to a “physical domestic incident.” Dispatch advised that the reporting party, the 29-year-old, stated his father-in-law was attempting to break his bedroom door down. Upon arrival, deputies met with the 29-year-old who stated the following:
The 29-year-old got into an argument with his mother and his father-in-law over two fans in his bedroom. The father-in-law said the fans were his and demanded the fans be returned, according to the arrest report.
The 29-year-old man said only one fan belonged to his father-in-law and he did not want his father-in-law in his bedroom. He said he stood by his bedroom door at the top of the stairs as the father-in-law approached in the stairwell. The father-in-law bumped his chest against the man’s, and the man put both his hands on the father-in-law’s chest in a pushing manner but did not push him, the arrest report states.
The mother pulled the father-in-law away, and the 29-year-old man called 911. He denied any need for medical attention. Deputies spoke with the father-in-law who said he demanded his fans back from the man.
The 29-year-old yelled at the father-in-law and said the fans did not belong to him and he would not be allowed in the room to get the fans. The father-in-law told the man he was going to get the fans and began walking up the stairwell.
The arrest report states the 29-year-old met the father-in-law halfway up the stairs and pushed him, forcing him to take several steps back down the stairwell. The father-in-law grabbed his phone to call 911, at which point the man came down the stairs and attempted to take the phone from the father-in-law. He pushed him once more before returning upstairs and calling 911 himself, the report states.
The father-in-law also denied any need for medical. Deputies spoke with the man’s mother, who said she saw her son push the father-in-law approximately six times. Deputies determined the 29-year-old to be the primary aggressor and took him into custody. Bail: $5,137.
