‘Aladdin, Jr.’ cast flies high, production opens Friday at Carson City Community Center
Wild Horse Children's Theater’s production of Disney's "Aladdin, Jr.” opens Friday at the Carson City Community Center.
“It will be a great, great family show,” said Pat Josten, the theater’s executive producer. “It’s going to be spectacular.”
The play will bring favorite characters to life in this stage adaptation of the Disney hit, including Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie, along with the scheming villain, Jafar and his wise-cracking side-kick, Lago, the parrot. It will feature the well-known songs from the Academy award-winning film including, “A Whole New World,” "Friend Like Me,” and "Prince Ali.”
Perhaps the most exciting element, Josten said, will be the actual flying carpet created by the international flying effects company, Flying by Foy of Las Vegas, who were behind the flight effects in the original Broadway production.
“It’ll bring a whole new dimension,” Josten said. “It’s beautiful with all the other special effects we have.”
The Wild Horse Children’s Theater is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007.
"Aladdin, Jr.” will highlight 85 actors ages 5 to 18.
“We’ve got a lot of kids who have been with us for years,” Josten said. “It’s a very strong cast.”
Show dates and times are 7 p.m. July 1, 2, 8 and 9; 2 p.m. July 2, 3, 9 and 10 at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors/students; $8 for ages 12 and under; children 3 and under are free.
