Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Two arrested on felony burglary charges
Two Carson City women were jailed Monday on suspicion of felony burglary and other charges after allegedly stealing items and using a receipt scheme to get cash from Walmart on Market Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched after learning one of the women had stolen merchandise and was running out the door. Asset Protection stopped the woman, later identified as Rebecca Collins, where she dropped a bag of items, ran and got into a white van that was going east on College Parkway.
A sergeant located the vehicle and conducted a stop. A deputy was advised there was a third female, later identified as Amie Folster, in the vehicle. The deputy asked the driver where she was. He motioned Folster was in the back of the van. Both were asked to step out of the vehicle. Collins emerged from under a floor rug in the van. Walmart loss prevention identified her as the one who had stolen $80 in merchandise. She was detained.
Folster was asked if she, too, was stealing from Walmart. She told the officer she went to the store with an old receipt, obtained items from the store that matched the receipt and then took them to the customer service counter where she returned the items to obtain cash, the arrest report states.
She initially told the officer she obtained $12.97 however it was later determined after reviewing surveillance that she had also selected items, placed them in a reusable Walmart bag, returned items worth $42.99 and also walked out with stolen merchandise. Both women were arrested.
At jail detention staff located prescription pills in a small wristlet wallet that belonged to Collins. The pills were identified as Trazadone. Also located in both of the women’s wallets were several receipts that appeared they made several trips in the last couple days returning items. It is unknown at this time if those items were also stolen.
Folster was arrested on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and burglary by shoplifting. Bail: $22,500. Collins faces charges of burglary by shoplifting and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription. Bail: $5,137.
— A 47-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Dale Borst, was arrested Monday, 10:46 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
According to the arrest report, officers made contact with the man earlier in the evening at Governor’s Field. He appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was attempting to pick fights with a deputy and others. He was released from Governor’s Field.
Borst was then located at a car dealership after it had closed. His behavior was frightening the remaining people inside. An officer made contact with the man, who spoke with the officer quietly and then becoming combative with him, bringing his hands up and saying “come on let’s go.”
Borst was asked to leave the property. He agreed to leave. Five minutes later, employees inside the car dealership said the man had returned, pulling on doors of the business trying to get in. Borst was arrested. Inside his pockets officers found a plastic “tooter straw” commonly used to inhale methamphetamine. The man told arresting officers, “that is not mine.” At jail deputies found a baggie with one gram of methamphetamine. Bail: $3,879.
