Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed after allegedly throwing wine glass at wife
A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday at 4:54 p.m. at the corner of Robinson and Carson streets on suspicion of domestic battery first offense, a misdemeanor. An officer responded to a call for domestic battery. A woman claimed her husband battered her with a wine glass.
The couple was attending the wine walk and got into a heated argument about raising their children, according to the arrest report.
The woman removed her wedding rings and threw them into the grass and the man replied by throwing his wine glass at the woman, according to the arrest report. A witness across the street said they saw the incident and told a story similar to the victim's story. The officer determined the man was the primary physical aggressor and he was taken into custody. Bail: $3,137.
In other arrests:
— A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10:22 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Carson Street on felony possession of a controlled substance and probation violation and misdemeanor turn signal required and improper turn at intersection.
Arrested was Kevin Harward. While on patrol, an officer observed a black vehicle stop in a westbound travel lane on Park Street obstructing the roadway. The vehicle proceeded to turn onto southbound Nevada Street without using a signal. When turning onto Nevada Street, the vehicle turned into the left travel lane instead of the furthest right lane, the arrest report states.
The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver identified himself as Harward. The officer then conducted a records check and found Harward was on supervision with the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation. The officer then asked to search his car for drugs, Harward agreed. The officer’s drug-detection canine located the presence of drugs in the center console of the vehicle. The officer looked inside and found a baggie containing a crystalline substance. Harward was taken into custody. Bail: $2,659.
— A 23-year-old Sparks man was arrested Saturday at 9:52 p.m. in the 2500 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanors possession of marijuana, open container and three other agency warrants.
An officer was assigned to assist in a traffic stop on North Carson Street. The subjects were removed from the vehicle and the officer made contact with the front passenger. The officer noticed marijuana residue on the passenger’s shirt and issued a citation for the possession of marijuana.
The officer then made contact with the driver and conducted a records check that revealed three warrants for his arrest out of Sparks Municipal Court. The officer also noticed marijuana and an open Modelo beer on the floor of the car where the driver was sitting. Bail: $2,893.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday at 3:32 a.m. in the 1000 block of North Carson Street on a gross misdemeanor DUI second offense and misdemeanors possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid driver’s license and warrant contempt of court.
An officer was dispatched to the area in reference to a traffic accident. The reporting witness said a vehicle struck a light pole and was disabled in the street. The officer made contact with the sole driver of the vehicle. The driver smelled strongly of marijuana and his eyes were red, bloodshot and his pupils were dilated. The records check confirmed a warrant out of Douglas County for contempt of court. The vehicle was searched and officers found a burned end of a marijuana cigarette inside a cigar container. The driver provided officers with a Nevada ID card, but said he had no valid driver’s license. Bail: $4,359.
— A 24 year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday at 12:23 a.m. in the 700 block of Siler Oak Drive on misdemeanor DUI first offense. An officer responded to a call regarding a male subject on the ground under a motorized scooter. The officer asked if the man was injured and he replied, “no.” The man said he was the only one driving the scooter and was leaving a casino. The man had red watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of an alcoholic beverage. The officer asked him if he had been drinking, the man replied that he had two drinks. The man was unable to perform the standard field sobriety tests and gave a preliminary breath test of .2. Bail: $1,137.
