Carson City weather: Showers possible through Monday with light snow potential Tuesday night
Thunderstorms that do form, however, will slowly diminish with the loss of heating Sunday night, according to forecasters. Showers will linger into Monday. For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, there's a 30 percent chance of showers today and a 50 percent chance tonight, with a chance for showers Monday. Daytime highs today and Monday will be in the lower 60s.
Meanwhile, a stronger upper-level low will move into our region Tuesday that will cause winds to increase. Peak gusts could be as high as 40-50 mph.
Rain and light mountain snow look likely Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Snow levels start near 7,000 feet but could fall to 5,000 feet, possible to the the valley floors behind the cold front Tuesday night into Wednesday morning that could impact travel especially over Sierra passes.
