Carson City commute: Snow on area roads
For those commuting to work or traveling on this President's Day, the Monday morning drive includes snow and icy conditions on area road ways.
Chains or snow tires are required on the following highways around Carson City:
— Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley for about 8.5 miles starting from mile post 6.5 in Washoe County, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) reports.
— U.S. 395 in Douglas County, for about 24 miles starting at mile post 4, and in Washoe County for about 16 miles starting at mile post 42.
— U.S. 50 West at the Douglas County line at Spooner Summit to mile post 4.5 in Carson City.
— SR 28 in Douglas County to mile post 11 in Washoe County along the east shore of Lake Tahoe.
— SR 207 from the U.S. 50 West junction at Stateline to Foothill Road in Douglas County.
— SR 88 from the California state line to mile post 7.8 in Douglas County.
— SR 341 from mile post 3 in Lyon County to mile post 10.8 in Storey County, as well as the Washoe County line on Geiger Grade for about six miles.
