Carson City job fair to be biggest yet with 55 employers signed on
The Feb. 27 fair, hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services in partnership with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The fair will offer an early 1:30 p.m. admission for all veterans. Job seekers looking for work will be able to meet with human resource representatives from fields such as manufacturing, retail, security, large casinos, state and city, health care, schools, auto retailers, restaurants, golf courses, staffing agencies, banking and more.
“As far as representatives, this is the biggest job fair we’ve had,” said Lynn Ellis, WorkForce program case manager for Carson City Health and Human Services. “It’s a really good sign of the improving economy when we have 55 employers who are looking to hire.”
The past five fairs have assisted on average 50 jobseekers per fair gaining employment, said Ellis. Some of the employers that will be attending have multiple positions to fill. All job seekers should bring an updated resume and dress to impress.
Ellis advises job seekers to “come prepared with several personal resumes. Be dressed professionally and practice your interviewing skills” ahead of time. For more information regarding the job fair call Ellis at (775) 283-7579 or email lellis@carson.org.
