Local Teen Needs Sponsors for Pageant
Lela Branstetter, a senior at Pioneer High School, is participating in the Miss Carson City Pageant this year. The pageant will be held on February 19, 2011. This pageant is a preliminary stage for the Miss America pageant system.
Miss America is one of the nations leading sources for scholarship money in the US. In order to raise the scholarship money, each contestant is asked to raise a certain amount in ad space in the pageant's program. None of the money is kept as revenue. All funds go to the girls. This year Lela was asked to raise $900. "Its been difficult to try and get sponsors with my job and school but the Carson Nugget and Mmmm Yogurt have been very supportive." With $300 more to go, Branstetter has went to local auto parts store, salon and insurance agents looking for support. "I'm just hoping someone will finally say yes to a good cause." Branstetter says.
There are four options when placing an ad; business card for $50, quarter page for $75, half page for $150 and a full page for $300. All donations are tax deductible. If you are interested in placing an ad for Lela Branstetter or any of the other contestants please feel free to email Lela at lelabranstetter@yahoo.com or call Shauna Bartshe, te pageant director for Miss Carson City at 775-230-3745.
