Motorists: Prepare for closures, detours on Saliman near high school beginning Monday
Beginning Monday, Jan. 19, Saliman Road will be closed from Seely Loop, the Mills Park entrance, to Robinson Street and the intersection of Saliman Road and Robinson Street will be completely closed, said Daniel Doenges, senior transportation planner for Carson City Public Works.
Detours will be signed. For the remainder of the week, Tuesday through Friday, the southbound lanes on Saliman Road will remain closed between Robinson Street and Seely Loop, and there will be one lane open in the northbound direction through the intersection. There will be intermittent closures of Seely Loop.
There will be restricted lanes on E. Fifth Street between Roop Street and Country Village Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Two-way traffic will be maintained. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the northbound Roop Street to eastbound Fifth Street right turn lane will be closed for 24 hours beginning at 5 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 21, the westbound Fifth Street to southbound Roop Street left turn lane will be closed.
Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 21, through Friday, Jan. 23, activity is expected to occur in the shoulders only of the following roadways due to utility work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
— Clearview Drive just west of Edmonds Drive.
— Bigelow Drive between Roland Street and Bennett Avenue.
— East side of Edmonds Drive just north of Koontz Lane.
— East side of Edmonds Drive just north of Valley View Drive.
The following sidewalk closures are scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:
— The west side of Carson Street between Proctor Street and Telegraph Street.
— The north side of Proctor Street between Carson Street and Curry Street.
— The north side of Musser Street and the east side of Minnesota Street along the Carson City United Methodist Church.
