Learn more about healthcare reform
A free public forum on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (AHCA) will be held at the Plaza Conference Center, 211 East 9th Street, Carson City, NV on Tuesday, August 28 at 5:30 P.M.
The speaker panel will include Steve Wiener, Outreach Specialist, U.S. Department of Health and Human Service, Region IX (office of West Coast Regional Director of HHS); Jon Hager, Director, Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (Nevada’s marketplace for health plans); and Susan Pintar MD, Carson City Public Health Officer. The event is sponsored by Women Rising Above Partisanship (WRAP), anon-partisan group of residents dedicated to offering education to the public on current pressing issues. The public is invited to attend and to submit questions for the speakers to field.
“This is the perfect opportunity to ask the experts direct questions about the AHCA,” said Judy Welch, a WRAP organizer. “There are so many misunderstandings and rumors circulating about the Affordable Health Care Act, and the forum will allow people to get the facts from experts.”
Women Rising Above Partisanship (WRAP) is a recently formed non-partisan coalition of residents with a goal of providing timely, factual, unbiased information on current events and crucial issues through a series of speaker forums. We will be using national, state and local subject matter experts. “We believe this region needs ample opportunity for accessing factual information while leaving ideology and partisanship behind,” said Welch. “WRAP members are a diverse group of local men and women whose primary objective is to get the facts directly from the source.”
In the spirit of collaboration, WRAP has reached out to diverse groups including the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women (AAUW), Democratic and Republican organizations and other socially conscious groups and businesses for their input and participation. WRAP is encouraging submitting written questions and concerns, attending the forum and to join our efforts in presenting this speaker series.
Persons interested in joining or knowing more about WRAP should call Judy Welch at 721-1731 or Kathy Bartosz at 882-7647. Questions maybe emailed to wrapcommittee@gmail.com.
