Obituary: Rev. Dr. Gil Linsley
Rev. Dr. Gil Linsley was born in 1928 in Alhambra, California. During his lifetime he had a successful career as a jazz trumpet player, water ski school owner and instructor, and Science of Mind minister. He had a love of water skiing which developed upon his move to Lake Tahoe in 1960 to play trumpet in the house bands at the casinos. He did trick and slalom skiing until he stopped at age 86.
He also had a love of sports cars, owning more than a dozen of them in his lifetime. He became a Religious Science Practitioner in 1960 and entered ministerial school at what is now Holmes Institute in 1974. He met current wife Gail in ministerial school and they have been together ever since.
He graduated from ministerial school in 1976 and co-created Lake Tahoe Science of Mind with Gail that same year. He also started Chapel of the Pines, a wedding business, in 1977. Son Adam was born in 1980. Rev Dr. Gil began serving as co-minister at Unity Religious Science in Carson City in 1984.
He retired from pulpit ministry in 2013 and in 2016 he retired from trumpet playing and officiating weddings, and began living full time in an RV with wife Gail, touring the country.
