The "Moses Syndrome"
On the Moses Syndrome
By Karl Edward Neathammer
The “Moses Syndrome”: By observation, can be defined as: “A delusion characterized by the uncritical belief in the promises of “the One” to lead the “Others” to the Promised Land!
It could be alleged, that those who suffer from this syndrome are crippled from a severe insufficiency in their psychological makeup, coupled with a messianic and delusional belief that they been chosen by a god, destiny, or the belief and strict adherence to a rigid political ideology, membership in their respective tribe, history, or, even worse by some “inner voice” to lead the “Others” to the Promised Land.
The subset of the Moses Syndrome is a cancerous form of dichotomy thinking that demands from the “One” to the “Others” to perceive the world thru the darkened lenses of “black or white”, while ignoring the excluded middle.
In short, the “Others” following the “One” must believe, while intentionally and enthusiastically abolishing their ability to think, are content by worshiping at the altars of their chosen and respective “One”.
The “Others” are far too easily susceptible to the media, (Fox News or MSNBC) and will intentionally ignore the hypocrisy and backgrounds of the “One”.
The “One” comes down from the political mountain top with their commandments, with all the answers to all the problems that confront Carson City.
Their answers are the absolute truth, but, seldom if ever do these false prophets understand the questions. All too often, they simply lack the leadership skills, cognitive and intellectual depth and breadth to govern, because they believe they are the “One”.
Here in Carson City, as early voting begins, we have three individuals running for office who suffer from the Moses Syndrome.
Jim Shirk: Running for re-election, he presents himself as a fiscal conservative, a self-appointed guardian of the taxpayer’s monies. And yet, was the only member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors to vote in favor of increasing his own salary.
As he has unequivocally and publicly stated: “My present hourly rate is $11.29. With the 3% increase the hourly rate will become $11.63 per hour, which equates to approximately $704.50 annually”.
Jim Shirk is overpaid! His incoherent, inconsistent, and fragmented logic, coupled with his inane dissertations on the simplest of issues that confront Carson City, is either the highest form of pseudo-intellectualism, or the lowest. I tend to lean towards the latter.
Chris Carver: Chris Carver is running for the position of Mayor of Carson City. I received his campaign literature in the mail and after reading his “platform”, I was unimpressed by its content.
Carver reminds me of the first year neophyte enrolled in college, who confronted with his first mid-term essay assignment, writes in glittering generalities over and over again, but never reaches a conclusion, and then scratches his head and wonders why he got a “D” as his grade!
And, just like a poorly written essay that has no substance or depth in its presentation, neither does Carver as a candidate for Mayor.
Maurice White: We must look upon him with pity, as he is nothing more than a “useful idiot”. We can only hope he will fade into obscurity, collect his pension from the State of Nevada as he fumes against the same government that feeds him.
Karl Edward Neathammer is a resident of Carson City. He does not respond to his critics. It saves time!
