Weekend Wrapup: Free events overtake Carson
Those who say that there's nothing to do in Carson City got to eat their words this weekend, as a myriad of free events overtook the capitol city. Several more low-cost and free events are planned throughout August for the public to enjoy.
On Friday night, popular regional band Lavish Green took to the stage for the weekly Fridays@Third street party, hosted by Firkin & Fox. A large crowd gathered for the family-friendly event, and were encouraged by the band to sing and dance along. To find out more about Lavish Green, visit their website at lavishgreenmusic.com.
Friday and Saturday were both host to Concerts at the Cove, a weekly event at the Cove at Carson Mall. Saturday the program featured the DG Kicks for the Jazz! Carson City jazz festival (jazzcarsoncity.com). The crowd was large and appreciative, some members of the crowd rising to dance in the middle of the square.
The Reno-based jazz band is an 18-piece ensemble featuring former showroom musicians from around the area, as well as several former UNR students. Included in this performance was singer Jakki Ford. To learn about the DG Kicks and see their schedule of performances, visit dgkicksband.com.
