Carson City emergency crews respond to 3-vehicle crash at junction of I-580 and US-50

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol troopers were called Sunday afternoon to a three-vehicle crash near the Spooner Junction intersection of I-580, South Carson Street and Highway 50 West.

My husband recently increased the time on each irrigation station to compensate for the hotter windier days. This was essential for the 50-year-old trees, mostly cottonwoods and pines, which were started when the lawns were put in decades ago. Since tree roots grow where water is, all these old trees have roots throughout the lawns.

A 61-year-old man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and four counts alternative sentencing violation, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Carson Chamber Singers to kick off 38th season August 2

A social gathering at 7 p.m. at Great Basin Brewing Co. in Carson City will follow.

Smoke from Oak Fire near Yosemite pushes into western Nevada; brings degraded air quality

Drift smoke from the Oak Fire near Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County moved into the Sierra Front and western Nevada overnight. The fire remains active with smoke impacts likely to continue. As of Sunday morning, both Gardnerville and Minden's air quality was in the "unhealthy range," according to airnow.gov.
