Roman picked for head coach in Sertoma Football Classic
It's no surprise that after leading the Carson High football team to its most successful season in school history that Blair Roman was selected to be one of the two head coaches in the 29th annual Sertoma Football Classic.
Roman, the CHS head coach, has been named one of two head coaches for the all-star game along with Truckee's Bob Shaffer. This year's all-star game will be held at 7;30 p.m. June 18 at Mackay Stadium. Rosters for the game will be chosen in the spring.
The top 100 high school seniors from the 2009 season from across Northern Nevada will be selected for the game and will be divided into two 50-player teams, the Silver and the Blue.
In attempt to make the game more competitive, the same process will be used again in which Roman and Shaffer will participate in a "draft" in which they will select the schools represented on their teams on an alternating basis. Players from Carson will obviously play for Roman while players from Truckee will play for Shaffer.
Last season, Roman led CHS to a 9-3 overall record and the Sierra League title.
