Cold, subfreezing temperatures are likely Wednesday night into Thursday morning for Carson City, Carson Valley and surrounding areas, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a freeze watch.

Last week, Carson High Schools Capitol FFA hosted its annual Cow Plop fundraiser. In this fundraising event, donors pay to buy a square inside of a cow’s pen.

If the cow poops on their respective square, the square’s sponsor will win $250.

The entire family will enjoy this spirited collection of themed steam train rides on the Virginia Truckee Railroad. The Pumpkin Patch train will be powered by Steam Engine No. 29 and feature a stop at the Gold Hill Depot Pumpkin Patch.

Enjoy a sunset train ride on the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Virginia City, NV to help benefit the Friends of Sutro Tunnel Charity's efforts to restore the iconic Sutro Tunnel & historic site.

Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine will be the featured speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting takes place Tuesday, October 10th, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

Earlier this month, Carson High School’s soil judging team took first place at the statewide competition in Ely, taking them to nationals. Soil judging is a competition where teams compete to determine the quality, water retention, classification, and consistency of the soil of a 5-foot deep hole.

Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, to host "Carson City School Curriculum: How is it decided and implemented?"

The next forums will take place October 17 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., and the program starting at 6 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall located at 511 W King St in Carson City.
