Two Top Rocking Country Acts Coming to Red Dog Saloon
San Diego’s Sara Petite and LA’s John Surge in a Double Bill at Ruby’s Ampitheater at Red Dog Saloon June 14, 7pm.
Sara Petite has torn up stages from her home in San Diego to the UK and back and was recently named “Best Country/Americana Artist” by the San Diego Music Awards. She has released seven albums, the latest called The Empress on Forty Below Records, with Eric Corne as producer.
She’s a fiery performer and great storyteller whose opened for are Todd Snider, Lucinda Williams, The Beat Farmers, Marty Stuart, and Rhett Miller among others. “She can sound as feisty as Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, and she is just as good at portraying heartache as Patsy Cline,” said Glide Magazine.
Joining Sara is John Surge and the Haymakers, who are known for red-hot live shows and a California country sound that weaves together classic country, rock ’n’ roll, blues and folk styles into a spirited feel good blend. The latest release on Blackbird Records was produced in Texas by Tommy Detamore (Doug Sahm-Jim Lauderdale-Jesse Daniel) and reached No. 32 on the prestigious Americana Music Association chart.“With ‘Almost Time,’ Surge has made an album that fits like a pair of well worn jeans and feels the right side of retro country but also has an eye to the future and perfects his own personal vision of the music that came from the likes of the Palomino Club in its heyday in L.A.,” said Lonesome Highway magazine.
The two top acts joined forces to bring a rewarding night of music to Virginia City fans who like spirited independent Americana country music.
