I was thinking that autumn was supposed to be a slower time of year for landscape and gardening chores. I took some pictures using my Nikon point and shoot camera from my driveway in Carson City on Saturday. I held a pair of the solar glasses in front of my lens to protect the camera. It was a bit awkward but worked.

Light cloudiness helped make viewing this morning's solar eclipse easier with the naked eye. This photo was taken this morning at 9:50am, just after the eclipse's peak.

This morning there was an annular solar eclipse. The clips started about 8:05 a.m. and lasted for a couple of hours. The pictures are part of a series and were taken at 10 minute intervals. The GIF file is a combination of the series. Although the start was shrouded in cloud cover, the majority of the eclipse was pretty clear.

Carson City High School Class of 1973 50th Class Reunion

Carson High School Class of 1973 will be having a 50th class reunion celebration on Friday, October 27th (day before the Nevada Day parade).

This will be an informal gathering at the Brewery Arts Center from 3:00-7:00 pm and all Carson High classes are welcome.

On October 13, 2023, at approximately 1650 hours, Lyon County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Starlite Drive in Fernley, Nevada in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, a responding Deputy advised, via radio, that a male subject came to the door of the residence and pointed a firearm towards the Deputy.

On Saturday morning, eyes went to the skies for the annual solar eclipse that took place. Photos were submitted by Bill Hopp, Donald Scott, Edward Howell and Randy and Vivian Spiker.
