The films being screened are from the contestants of the recent "Tell Me You Love Me" Short Romance Film competition. Dinner will be catered in the Grand Ballroom by Bella Vita Bistro.

The audience will have a chance to cast their votes for the Audience Choice Award.

Happy Groundhog Day, Carson City! While the prognosticating Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow in western Pennsylvania, our region is bracing for more Winter weather due to arrive this weekend.

CARSON CITY — Jukebox International Film Festival has opened its doors for submissions for its third year. Known as “the festival that specializes in music-themed films,” JIFF is accepting new entries in the following categories: Narrative Features, Narrative Documentaries, Narrative Shorts, Documentary Shorts, and Music Videos.

CARSON CITY — Tell Me You Love Me Short Romance Film competition is now open for registration. Starting on Wednesday, Jan. 30, registered filmmakers will have exactly one week to conceive, write, produce and complete a short romance film that’s between 5- and 9-minutes long.

All of the films will be screened at a special dinner and screening event at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on Valentine's Day.

Wired Wednesday Digital Arts Association held their annual Carson Creepy Short Horror Film competition screenings and awards on Tuesday, October 30th at the Brewery Arts Center.

Local filmmakers were challenged earlier this month to make short horror films in exactly one week.

Among other featured events include the launch of "Trailblazing Nevada,” a new museum experience inside Battle Born Hall at the Nevada State Capitol, a fundraiser at Firehouse Subs for a Carson City cancer patient, a GOP open house, a talk about climate change at WNC and more.

With Carson Creepy Short Horror Film Competition coming up we offer our yearly free filmmaking workshops at Paradise Salon Spa and Wellness. Short 20 minute workshops include Scary Make Up, Screen Writing, Special Effects, Lighting and more!

The next Wired Wednesday workshop will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Paradise Salons, 3430 Executive Pointe Way, Carson City.

Friday opens the 15th annual Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival in Carson City that features 17 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in Carson City, August 3-19.

This Wednesday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m., a workshop teaching the basics of drone techniques will be held for the public by the Wired Wednesday Digital Artists group.

Attention all aspiring filmmakers: Can you make a movie in a week? if so, Wired Wednesday Digital Artists of Carson City presents its 2018 City Wide Short Film Competition, a venue where the challenge is getting all the essential pieces in place.

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

I hate to be a tease, but I just have to say something about this upcoming weekend. Friday night brings us the Fox Brewpub's first summer concert featuring Shane Dwight in McFadden Plaza, the Broncs and Bulls Smackdown at Fuji Park, or the kick off to Street Vibrations Spring Rally at Battle Born Harley. Saturday welcomes the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the year, the monthly Wine Walk, and Dayton’s annual Oodles of Noodles Festival and Pasta Cook-off.

It’s Denim Day in Nevada, which is just a way to show support for the survivors of sexual assault and bring awareness to the issue. Your early morning coffee might even come with a specially made heat sleeve in honor of the occasion. The Carson City Library is continually bringing something new to our community. Today, you can get certified to use their laser cutter and engraver in the new Maker Space, or you can get a dose of some international flavor. Their Diversity in Action program features Peruvian and Latin American Folkloric music, and is suitable for all ages.
