In this edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer welcomes Darla Bayer, the person responsible for filming this broadcast, to talk about the upcoming "Tell Me You Love Me" Short Romance Film Competition, now in its third year.

Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

For the past five years the Carson City Classic Cinema Club has been showing the great 'Golden Age of Hollywood' films to local moviegoers as a way to promote art education in the community. The club's founder notes its acceptance thus far has been slow going but, so far, successful.

The ghosts and zombies and costume super heroes will be out and about now through Thursday, either at organized events or Halloween night trick or treating around the Carson City area, including the Carson Mall, throughout downtown and at the Governor's Mansion.

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

Heading into the first day of October 2019, events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a historic talk about Frank Sinatra's gaming license at Lake Tahoe, a "Think Pink" breast cancer awareness event at Red's Old 395 Grill, a showing of the film classic "Charade" at the Brewery Arts Center and more.

Going into Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, we're looking at sunshine and temperatures in the low 90s. Events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a scary makeup demonstration at the Brewery Arts Center and the 1946 version of "The Postman Always Rings Twice," presented by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club. Wired Wednesday Tuesday's Talk will be Lynzie Ruecker, from Image Perspectives "The Injury Simulation People!" She will be demonstrating how to apply a wound and how to do a Zombie face.

A festive gathering that celebrates music-themed films arrives in Carson City beginning Tuesday, delivering top-notch features about music and musicians, styles, songwriting and music video making.

The Jukebox International Film Festival is the place music and flicks collide, bringing enthusiasts and artists together from across the country to the capital city for three days, offering free showings, meet-and-greets and more.

The 2019 Jukebox International Film Festival will be August 20-22 at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center.

Organizers of the film festival announced their full schedule on Monday, July 29. It can also be seen on their website here.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Looking at the day ahead there's a walk hosted by parks and recreation, kids events, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center, a free "rough cut" feature film screening at the Carson Nugget, Young Chautauquans at Dangberg Historic Park and more.

Wired Wednesday will meet at Carson Nugget, Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. in Banquet Hall C upstairs. All ages are welcome, however this film would be potentially Rated R due to language, violence and an off camera scene that is heard but not seen.

Wired Wednesday presents Starting from Scratch: making a short film. Are you, or someone you know, interested in making short films?

Coming Tuesday, May 7 our first in a series of “How To” talks, will be 12 steps to making a short film, as well as competition and challenge basics.

When acerbic critic, Sheridan Whiteside (Monty Wooley) slips on the front steps of a provincial Ohio businessman's home and breaks his hip, he and his entourage hilariously take over the household indefinitely. The comedy also stars Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan and Jimmy Durante.

New this year, Wired Wednesday Digital Artists will present a brief film-making discussion prior to our films, beginning at 6:00p. This month's topic - Lighting for dark films.

Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux star in this film adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic tale, in which, a man's vision for a Utopian society is disillusioned when he travels forward in time to discover how society has evolved.

Today has earned a happy dance, because there will be an extra hour of daylight with which to enjoy the outdoors. Just remember to set your alarms so you aren't an hour late for work Monday!

Daylight Savings Time is about to begin, harkening the approach of Spring. Winter, though, continues its stubborn hold on the region, so bundle up this weekend in spite the extra hour of daylight. There's a chance of snow showers throughout the weekend with daytime highs only into the low 40s.

And remember to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night!

Heading into the home stretch that is Friday, March 8, 2019 we welcome you to the end of the work week. More spring-like weather is ahead, which isn't exactly all sunshine and flowers.
