First West Nile Virus case of 2018 confirmed in Carson City, Douglas County

The individual confirmed to have West Nile Virus was diagnosed with the less severe form of the illness.
Boot Fire in Mono County doubles in size overnight, Highway 395 detour at Holbrook Junction

A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.

Start the weekend early with some live music for a good cause. The Nevada Arts Council has a new exhibit featuring Basque artwork; attend this evening’s artist reception to learn more about these unusual carvings. The ESL at Home program works quietly behind the scenes to bring better English language skills to non-native speakers.
New airline to add nonstop flights to Silicon Valley, Reno-Tahoe and Las Vegas

Flying from its base at the McClellan – Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, Calif., CPA will initially offer service to the communities of San Jose in the Bay Area and northern Nevada through the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Muscle Powered hosts Saturday hike to the Tahoe Rim Trail from Spooner Summit to South Camp Peak

Meet at 7:15 a.m. at the Park and Ride lot on Hwy 50 just west of the intersection at 395 to carpool to the trailhead since parking is limited. Plan on 5-6 hours which will include travel time and breaks. For fit, experienced hikers only! This is a great hike but includes some steady uphill, high elevation, and needed stamina to keep up with the group.

Take a stroll with Muscle Powered: today’s hike will wind through the far east side of Carson, from Silver Saddle Ranch to Mexican Dam. Artsy Fartsy Art Galley hosts an artist meet and greet for Catherine King; enjoy a glass of wine while discovering her newest work. Head down the rabbit hole, and you may wind up on McFadden Plaza. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings the recent live-action version of Alice in Wonderland to the big screen on the downtown stage.
