Sundaes on Sunday at the Library

Event Date:
July 26, 2015 - 2:00pm

Who knew the origins of a “sundae” could be disputed? Was the ice cream treat invented in New York, Illinois, or somewhere else? All lay claim to serving the first ice cream scoop topped with something sweet. Another tidbit about how sundaes came to be called a sundae is for the reason that in the 1880’s local laws prohibited the consumption of ice cream sodas as being too indulgent for Sundays. So, a young soda fountain clerk dished up a scoop of ice cream and topped it with chocolate syrup. This tasty delight, a sundae, was only allowed to be served on Sundays.

With 15 major Republicans already declared – the best presidential field since Ronald Reagan ran for re-election – GOP voters should be able to tap a very strong candidate to lead their party next year. Which one would best unify and represent them?
