Acclaimed film 'Persepolis' to be shown Sunday at Carson City Library
Carson City Library will show the acclaimed film, “Persepolis”, on Sunday, August 2, at 2 pm in the Library Digitorium. The film is a poignant story of a young girl coming-of age in Iran during the Islamic revolution and is based on the memoir written as a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. The film is Rated-PG-13.
“Persepolis”, a 2007 Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature and nominated for a Golden Globe Best Foreign Language Film, takes us on a journey with a precocious and outspoken young girl. The time depicts the years when people’s hopes were dashed as fundamentalists took power.
The following Sunday, August 9, Carson City Library will host special guest Rick Gunn at 2 p.m. Gunn is an award-winning photographer, adventure-writer and speaker. His visual presentation, “The Wheels of Peace: A thousand miles by bicycle through Oman and Iran”, will detail his recent cycling journey through Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He launched his newest project, “The Wheels of Peace”, a venture in which he exchanged letters and artwork between the children of America and the children of Iran.
“Persepolis” and ”The Wheels of Peace” will conclude Carson City Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program.
