No surprises Monday: Filing for Carson City elected seats underway
On Monday, filing for various Carson City elected offices began, with no surprises and thus far two contested races, Justice of the Peace Dept. 2, which has been known since the filing deadline of Jan. 12 and the Carson City Sheriff seat. Filing dates for all offices other than judicial runs from March 5-16, 2018.
The primary election is June 12.
The Carson City Elections Department reports as of Monday, Kristin Luis and attorney Ryan Russell turned in their filing paperwork in January for Justice of the Peace Dept. 2, a six-year non-partisan position.
Incumbent Judge Tom Armstrong is seeking re-election for the 6-year-term Justice of the Peace Department 1 seat.
For Carson City sheriff, current Sheriff Ken Furlong is running for a 4-year term, with Lorne R. Houle running against Furlong, who has served as the 27th Carson City Sheriff since 2003.
Meanwhile, current Carson City Assessor David A Dawley, is seeking another four-year term, while Aubrey Rowlatt seeks a 4-year term as Carson City Clerk Recorder.
Gayle Robertson is seeking the seat as Carson City treasurer.
Retired Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi is hoping to replace Carson City Ward 1 Supervisor Karen Abowd who is retiring.
Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell is seeking a second term as Carson City Supervisor Ward 3.
