Ceremony opens Carson City Motor Officer Training Challenge, downtown festival

Motorcycle patrol riders from Nevada and California were welcomed by dignitaries Saturday for the opening of the 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge in downtown Carson City.

The event brings dozens of law enforcement officers to Carson City annually to compete in team riding and obstacle courses along Carson Street. Saturday's events will include 2 man tethered riding, 4 man team relay, slow ride, an obstacle course and last man standing.

Co-headliner Pablo Cruise to play set with Ambrosia at July 8 Concert Under the Stars

History will be made when Pablo Cruise and Ambrosia perform at Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, Wednesday, July 8 at Cafe at Adele’s, as this is the first time both bands not only co-headline the event, but will play a set together, something both bands have long wanted to do.

Bikes, and cars, and brews: oh my! Downtown Carson is awash in activity on Saturday. Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly features the Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, vendors, a brewfest, moustache competition and more. The Karson Kruzers are hosting their annual car show at Fuji Park, but will be making their way downtown after it’s over, so there will be plenty of cool cars to admire. Mojo Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and you can head into the Carson Cigar Company to enjoy Reno’s newest Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Scarlett Moon at 9 p.m.

Downtown Carson City celebrates with Motor Patrol Challenge, Bikes and Brew street party

The inaugural Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes and Bubbly Nevada Day Fundraiser and 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge is underway now in downtown Carson City.
Among the motor patrol officers competing from around the region through courses along downtown Carson City streets, there's also classic cars, many local craft brewers and wineries, beer and wine tasting, vendors, food and contests.

Are you ready for the weekend, Carson City? I know that the Taste of Downtown is hard to beat, but the new Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly has thrown its hat in the ring. Live music, vendors, competitions that test motorcycle driving skill and moustache growing ability. The brewfest and tasting is tomorrow night, but the fun will begin today at noon. Shine up your hot rod, the Karson Kruzers’ Run Whatcha Brung Show hits Fuji Park tomorrow, but you can register and show off your ride tonight in the Carson Nugget Parking Lot.

Classic cars, motor bikes, beer judging, tattoo and pin-up contests, food, live music and array of family-friendly activities will fill downtown Carson City and Fuji Park this weekend for three events: The Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes and Bubbly fundraiser, the 12th annual Carson City Sheriff's Office Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge and the 31st Run What-Cha-Brung car show.

Carson City Sheriff's Office hosts 12th Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge

This Friday and Saturday the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host its 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge. During this event Carson Street from Robinson to Musser will be closed as motor officers train with one another on a Peace Officer Standards in Training approved course.

Stewart Indian School Powwow features Native American culture

Feathers, beads and bells danced through the Stewart Indian School campus in Carson City for family and friends this Father's Day weekend. The Stewart Father's Day Powwow displayed outstanding dancers, traditional food and local vendors. The weekend long celebration began Friday and will continue until Sunday.

The Carson City Airport Hosts Annual Open House displaying aircrafts and other activities

Airplane owners, their aircrafts, old cars and motocycles, pilots, sponsors, vendors and guests of all ages can be found at the Carson City Airport grounds today, Saturday, for the airport's annual open house.

Planes will take to the skies through 4 p.m. The event is free and guests can can participate in interactive activities and magnificent displays the open house offers.

Rubber duck adoptions now open for Nevada Humane Society’s Duck Race and Festival

Presented by Petco Foundation, Nevada Humane Society’s Duck Race and Festival is swimming back for a 6th year with a goal to adopt 30,000 rubber ducks to benefit homeless pets. The community is encouraged to adopt a rubber duck now then spend a fun-filled day in the park to cheer on their duck as they race down the Truckee River. The grand prize is a 2015 Toyota Corolla generously donated by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota Scion.

World Cowboy Fast Draw Championship

Competitors from all around the country compete in western wear with single action revolvers for the title “The Fastest Gun Alive.”at the Churchill County Fairgrounds: 325 Sheckler Road Fallon, NV.

There will be Civil War Re-enactments, Cowboy Mounted Shooting, Nevada Gunslingers gun fight re-enactment, and over 40 food, clothing and craft vendors with live music on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Admission is $5, $4 for seniors and military, $3 kids ages 13-17. Under 13 are admitted free.

Carson City Airport Announces 2015 Open House Event

With hopes of generating enthusiasm among young people and using themes of robotics, aviation and aerospace to do it, Carson City Airport's annual open house returns to the skies above the capital city on Saturday, June 20, after a year hiatus.

More than 6,000 visitors attended the event in 2013. This year’s open house, which runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., is free to the public. Activities will feature interactive displays, flybys, plane and helicopter demonstrations, robotics demonstrations, food and beverages, bounce house and many more family activities.

Hosted in partnership with the Nevada Indian Commission and the Stewart Father’s Day Powwow Committee, the annual powwow includes quality Native American arts and crafts vendors and is also a time for alumni, former employees, families and friends to gather at the former campus.

Dayton is dishing up fun this weekend with their annual Oodles of Noodles festival. Sunday features a pet parade, live music, and more. The Sequicentenial of the Civil War will be remembered at the Dayton Cemetery; just take Main Street up the hill and to the left. Street Vibrations Spring Revival roars into Reno this weekend, and Virginia City is sure to have its share of bikers, as well. So please drive carefully.

First 3rd and Curry Street Farmers Market of the Summer

The 3rd and Curry Street Farmers Market began on Saturday with a crowd of excited market shoppers and eager local vendors. The farmers market has become a Carson City event not to be missed by locals or tourists. Shoppers get a chance to meet local vendors to learn about and taste their produce. The farmers market is Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 3rd and Curry Street parking lot and runs until September 19.

JOIN, Inc. has opened its new Carson City location at 716 N. Carson Street, Suite 108 where staff members are eager to serve residents seeking career training for in-demand occupations.

Denise Castle, Regional Branch Manager, is excited that JOIN is extending its outreach beyond Carson City to Dayton, Gardnerville, Incline Village, Minden, Silver Springs, South Lake Tahoe, Stateline, Virginia City, The Washoe Tribe, Wellington, Yerington and Zephyr Cove in order to enroll more individuals who have been without work and need re-employment skills through JOIN’s training programs.

RSVP Spring Fun Fair returns to Mills Park this weekend

For the 30th year, the Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc. (RSVP) will sponsor the Spring Fun Fair and Carnival at Mills Park this Thursday, May 7 through Sunday, May 10.

The carnival opens at 5 pm on Thursday and Friday, at 2 pm on Saturday and Noon on Sunday. All proceeds go toward services for Carson City seniors designed to assist them to remain independent and in their own homes with dignity.

Farmers Bank Open House: Tours set for May 12 for renovated historic Minden building

Vendor spaces are filling up fast for this year's Battle Born Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly, in conjunction with the Extreme Motor Officer Challenge, held in Historic Downtown Carson City Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27.

Booths are 10’x10’ spaces (unless otherwise agreed upon) and the exact location will be available at check-in. Exhibitors must remain in their assigned area and occupy their booths during open hours of the event: Friday check-in at 10 a.m., event goes from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
