All schools were given the same case construct and asked to create their own take on it, presenting it as an attorney and a witness would in a real court case.

More than 125 educators, 60 from Carson City, will attend the summit to learn how to effectively implement Google apps in the classroom.
Boys and Girls Clubs in Carson City unveil Mike Frezzo Tech Center
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/01/2017 - 4:46pmThe Frezzo family of Washoe Valley honored their son and brother Mike, who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2014, by presenting a naming gift to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada to establish the Mike Frezzo Tech Center for Club members ages 5 to 12.
Katie Leao, chief professional officer for the Club, said the Club’s tech lab had not been updated for over 8 years. The gift includes new furniture and 30 new Chromebook laptops, similar to those used by the Carson City School District.

Then, a series of winter storms dropped over ten feet of snow in parts of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Emergency officials advised residents in both areas to shelter in place to avoid the flood or the blizzard—and for some who live in the valley and work in the basin (or vice versa) — both.

Speakers include Lori Nichols from Foster Care Recruitment, and Sally Hazard from the Fernley office for the Advanced Foster Care Program. They will explain the pressing need for foster homes in the Lyon and Storey County region, and offer ways to help increase the number of foster parents.
Tahoe RCD Records Largest Stormwater Flows at Monitoring Sites
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 01/25/2017 - 11:47amThe early storm event that began on January 7 with over 5 inches of rain in some regions of the Lake Tahoe Basin before turning to snow, delivered a massive amount of runoff to the Lake in a short period of time.
During this storm event the Tahoe RCD Stormwater Monitoring Program measured the highest flows ever recorded at all eight monitoring locations since monitoring began in 2013. Our Tahoe Valley site, located off Tahoe Keys Blvd, measured 1.5 million cubic feet of flow, nearly 90% of the flow that was observed throughout the whole 2016 water year!
