Hello fellow anglers, I have been away for a couple weeks fishing in Oregon and northern California. Oh did we get into some nice fish, which I will give you the full story at the end of this report.

Silver City, Nevada- United Way's annual "Tune into Kids" Fun Fair for preschoolers and their parents takes place Tuesday, August 22 from 10am to noon at the Silver City town park (next to the Silver City School House/community center at 385 High Street.) Silver City is located on the Comstock, 3 miles from Virginia City and 12 miles from Carson City.

On July 27th, 2017, Lynn Beteag, Managing Director, of Nevada State EB-5 Regional Center was a guest speaker to the Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS. Western Nevada College President Chester (Chet) Burton has announced that Friday, Aug. 18 will be his last day at WNC. Burton has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Galena Creek Visitor Center Join Garrett Barmore, Curator of the W. M. Keck Museum, who will discuss Northern Nevada's rich mining heritage from the 19th century Comstock Lode to modern mining in Nevada. Barmore will also touch on the technology and minerals used in Nevada's mining industry.

Members of the Sierra Nevada Youth Optimist Club will be hosting robotics camps at Western Nevada College July 17th – July21st.
There will be two separate sessions to meet the needs of different ages: the morning session (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) will be targeted to grades K - 4th and will use the LEGO WeDo robotics kits; the afternoon session (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM) will be targeted to grades 4th - 8th and will use the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robotics kits.

SILVER CITY — Each summer since 2003, the historic Comstock community of Silver City has partnered with Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey to organize a free, public program with guest teachers leading fun, hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).

Carson High School Career and Technology Education Health Occupation Student Association Future Health Professionals, a career and technical student organization, is sending 29 students to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., June 20-25. The students will represent CHS, as well as the Carson City community and the state of Nevada in various medical competitions.

Each summer since 2003, the historic Comstock community of Silver City has offered free, public programming in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).
