No longer are students allowed to possess their earbuds at school let alone use them during breaks or at lunch time. Accessing cell-phones during class may also result in confiscation, delivery to the office, and a call home to have the parent or guardian come and personally pick it up from the office.

CARSON CITY — The Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation announced Friday it has launched its Work-Based Learning and pilot Pay-For-Performance grant request for proposals. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply for funding from $50,000 to $200,000.

The Tahoe Transportation District will receive $1.5 million to install bus charging infrastructure and equipment, make facility improvements, and provide training as part of a grant announced Friday through the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.

This summer marks the 10th anniversary of Lake Tahoe’s Watercraft Inspection Program. Under the program, every motorized watercraft is inspected to ensure it is clean, drained, and dry and not carrying aquatic invasive species before launching at Tahoe.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Boys and girls ages 7-13 will build and code robots to move during an annual engineering mini-camp in Silver City on Tuesday, August 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. The free activity will be led by the Society of Women Engineers’ Sierra Nevada section, in partnership with FLL Team VC Silver Bricks and FTC team Cyber Mafia.

During the 2018 Carson City Fair, Carson Now held a coloring contest which produced 53 excellent entries, voted on by 433 voters. The entries were on display through the weekend in the exhibition hall of Fuji Park.
