A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

High Wind Warning tonight through Tuesday for Carson City region

Carson City area weather: Light snow expected Thursday morning prompts advisory

UPDATE Thursday: A band of heavier snow showers will move across western Nevada this afternoon. Areas from Reno to Fernley to Fallon and south to Carson City, Virginia City, and Yerington have the best chances of seeing a quick light accumulation. This includes Interstate 80 east of Reno, Highway 580 in Washoe Valley, and Highway 50 east of Carson City to Fallon. Accumulations will range from a dusting up to a quick half inch in these areas. We can't rule out spots of near one inch snowfall mainly on non-paved surfaces.

Forest Service firefighter from Lake Tahoe deployed to Australia; BLM sends Carson City fuels program manager

UPDATE: The Bureau of Land Management says it has deployed six from Nevada who are helping with firefighting efforts in Australia. Two are already there, with four on the way including a Fuels Program Manager from Carson City who is serving as a plans chief. Other personnel are from the Battle Mountain District, an assistant Superintendent for the Silver State Hotshots, a helicopter supervisor from the Elko District and an Engine Captain from Southern Nevada.

Lost German Shepard and Rottweiler mix spotted at Carson Tahoe Hospital

Two large dogs entered Carson Tahoe Hospital's main lobby Sunday. One was a German Shepard and the other an older Rottweiler mix. They exited back out into the parking lot. If these are your dogs please come look in this area.

Homicide suspect in custody following Tahoe capture, confesses location of father's body

A four-hour interview of homicide suspect Sean Purdy in Reno Friday night has led to the discovery of the body of his father, 52-year-old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, Calif.

At 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2020, detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office met with the 20-year-old suspect at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, detectives said they were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

UPDATE 1:14PM: From the Washoe County Sheriff's Office: WCSO deputies just arrested Amador County fugitive Sean Purdy. He was arrested north of Sand Harbor near Incline Village. Sheriff Balaam expressed his deep appreciation to all the deputies and investigators from multiple agencies who have tenaciously worked for the safety of the community during the past 12 hours.

Carson City area casinos saw gaming revenue decline 2.1 percent in November compared to the same time last year, according to figures released last week by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

A fast moving, weak storm will bring the potential for light snow to the Sierra, northeast California, and western Nevada late Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. While significant accumulation is not expected, travel impacts are probable, with the worst conditions likely Sunday night into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
