Fishing Report: Topaz Opener set to be a relatively warm winter day for fishing the stocked lake
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 12/27/2019 - 3:12pmHello fellow anglers! We are just a few days away from the Topaz opener on January 1, 2020 after its closure three months ago to this date.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife has planted 51,000 pounds of trout, which is approximately 17,800 individual trout.
As a note, the NDOW planted Eagle Lake, Triploid and the Tahoe strain as well. I would have to say, if you don't catch a fish on opening day. It might be time to look for a new sport. With all the trout in the lake with the additional poundage that has been added, fishing should be pretty good.

Body discovered by hiker ID'd as missing elderly Carson City man

Carson Senator Ski Team Results
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 12/18/2019 - 7:18pmThe Carson Senators Ski Team opened the 2019-20 season at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort Tuesday. The Senators were missing quite a few skiers because of Final Exams, but still were able to make a respectable showing.
The Carson girls team was led by the Senators two returning state qualifiers from last year. Junior Brynn Prunty was 21st and Sophomore Sarah Wiggins was 24th. Junior Brooke Gudmundson was 48th.

Carson City man killed on tribal land tried and acquitted in 2019 on lewdness with a child charges (Updated)
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 12/17/2019 - 7:34pmUPDATE: A 23-year-old Carson City man who died Friday from multiple gunshot wounds was tried and acquitted at a Lake Tahoe court earlier this year on charges of indecent exposure and lewdness with a child under the age of 12, court records show. Kyle Sullivan Bryan was found not guilty by a jury on both counts on April 11, 2019 in El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe.

A Carson City man who died from multiple gunshots Friday in what is being investigated as a possible homicide on Washoe Tribe land was arrested in 2018 for warrants out of South Lake Tahoe for alleged lewdness with a child.
Carson City Sheriff's Office respond to report of dead body found in hills near Lakeview
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 12/17/2019 - 2:30pmUPDATE 5:14PM: From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: At approximately 1:48 p.m., a hiker in the hills between Carson Tahoe Hospital and Lakeview Estates discovered the remains of a deceased older male. The remains were largely buried in snow. Detectives have processed the scene and removed the body for transport to the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy, scheduled for Thursday. Identification of the remains and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. No other information is available at this time.
