Senator Square: Carson High School seniors celebrate their sunrise
Submitted by editor on Sun, 09/02/2018 - 5:07amThe Carson High School senior class of 2019 arose early, not an easy task for a high school student, to celebrate the rising of the sun on this their final year of high school. A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.

Senator Square: New technology policy at CHS

No longer are students allowed to possess their earbuds at school let alone use them during breaks or at lunch time. Accessing cell-phones during class may also result in confiscation, delivery to the office, and a call home to have the parent or guardian come and personally pick it up from the office.

Kathleen Dunbar was the winner of The Las Vegas Comedy Festival and voted Vegas Favorite Comedian. In 2005 the Entertainment Consumers Exchange awarded the Excellence in Entertainment Sunrise Award.
They awarded her again in 2006 and 2007 with the Favorite Comedian award. She has made her mark in Las Vegas and around in casinos and comedy clubs across country. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this comic has Midwest values and ideals.
Nevada Day 2017 launches in downtown Carson City
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 10/28/2017 - 9:01amNevada Day officially began Saturday morning with the annual Nevada Day Classic 8K and two-mile run/walk in downtown Carson City, followed by pancake breakfasts hosted by the Builders Association of Western Nevada and Carson Lodge No. 1, and then annual sunrise hot air balloon launch organized by Relax.
The Nevada Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. at William and Carson Streets.
Hunting violations checkpoint set for Sunday

Tornado Warning expires for Carson City, Douglas, Lake Tahoe; thunderstorms bring flooding
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 09/13/2017 - 3:49pmUPDATE 5:47PM: Much of the localized flooding from the heavy rain has subsided. Winds are calm with a few lighting strikes still happening. There are no longer any severe weather warnings for Carson City.

UPDATE 5:15PM: The Tornado Warning has expired. Flooding throughout Carson City is being reported as rush hours begins. William Street from Mills Park, College Parkway, Roop Street, and Saliman all experiencing flooding issues. Much of the heavy rain has now moved on though there are several lightning strikes still around Carson City.

Here at CHS, this new school year brings a list of new students, new clubs, and new activities to the desk and table of CHS teachers and students, and because time passes so quickly when busy, it is easy to become stressed with anxiety and succumb to its temptations.
