Irish Folk Singer Seamus Kennedy Plays Great Basin Brewery in Sparks

The Sons & Daughters of Erin, are holding a benefit concert featuring Irish folk singer Seamus Kennedy on Monday, September 10 at Great Basin Brewery in Sparks.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. for those wanting to order food from the brewery menu (corned beef and cabbage will be available) and then concert will start at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $25 for non members and $20 for SADOE members and food is not included. Tickets may be purchased online through BrownPaperTickets.com or in person at Brewery in Sparks. There will be up to a $2 service fee per ticket on any credit card transaction.

The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival makes an appearance downtown with Under the Radar in the Comma Coffee Courtyard, followed by the Mile High Jazz Band in McFadden Square. Wild Horse Children’s Theater has obtained the rights for the Northern Nevada premiere of Disney’s “Mary Poppins, Jr." Auditions will be held Thursday, August 23 and Saturday, August 25 for actors ages 5-18 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time.
