In anticipation of Electoral College demonstrations in the downtown area Wednesday, motorists and patrons are encouraged to avoid the area.

Please anticipate heavy foot traffic throughout downtown area, drive with extreme caution and watch for pedestrians. Plan your travel accordingly, as motorists and pedestrians leave the campaign rally anticipate traffic delays. Both pedestrians and motorists must obey traffic laws.

Steve Sisolak said that while a testing kit shortage makes it impossible to tell how much coronavirus has affected Nevada, the pace of the virus’ spread around the world means Nevada must “act quickly” to slow it — including taking drastic measures such as shutting state offices, limiting the size of gatherings and encouraging employees to work from home if possible.

WNC hosts social gathering Friday for Journey of Hope cyclists

Western Nevada College and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities will host a Journey of Hope Celebration on Friday in Carson City for 35 cyclists who are riding from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., to support those with disabilities.

Friday’s free social gathering, which promotes disability awareness and community education, is open to the public and runs from 5 to 8 p.m. in front of the Dini Student Center at WNC.

Community invited to ceremony, social Saturday at Mills Park in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day

The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will hold a public Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony and social gathering on Saturday at Mills Park beginning at 5 p.m.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located at Carson City's Mills Park in the southeast corner. The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road or Seely Loop, across from Carson High School.

Public invited to attend ceremony and ‘social’ honoring Vietnam Veterans Day

The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will mark Vietnam Veterans Day in a short ceremony and social gathering on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located in Mills Park in Carson City, NV in the southeast corner of the park at 5 PM. (The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road across from Carson High School).

After the ceremony, a “Welcome Home” social will be held at the High Sierra Brewery Company, located at 302 North Carson Street at 5:30 PM. No Host Bar, free appetizers, and good cheer.
