The Douglas County Sheriff's Office sergeant who was injured in a Dec. 20 shooting is returning to his Carson City home from the hospital today, Tuesday with a full law enforcement escort.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with City departments and multiple agencies throughout the region in order to facilitate Sunday’s planned campaign rally hosted by the Carson City Airport's Cactus Air Force, located at 2600 E. College Parkway.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Sunday, July 12, 2020 that there are 10 new positive cases and no additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 453, with 315 recoveries and eight deaths, 130 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, June 25 that there are 11 new positive cases and four additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 315, with 214 recoveries and seven deaths, 94 cases remain active.

Gov. Steve Sisolak’s request Tuesday night for all non-essential businesses in the state, including casinos, to close their doors for 30 days in order to avoid further spread of the novel coronavirus has been met with some confusion over what is and isn’t an “essential” business.

Gov. Steve Sisolak said that while a testing kit shortage makes it impossible to tell how much coronavirus has affected Nevada, the pace of the virus’ spread around the world means Nevada must “act quickly” to slow it — including taking drastic measures such as shutting state offices, limiting the size of gatherings and encouraging employees to work from home if possible.

A group of citizens from Silver City, NV and communities close by, formed a citizen action committee called the Silver City Small Actions Committee (SCSAC) to address local, state and national issues precipitated by the November 2016 general election.

Mountain bikers looking to register for the Epic Rides Off-Road Series can receive a 25 percent discount by signing up 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Firkin and Fox in Carson City.

“Community Discount Night will provide locals a social gathering to kick off the upcoming mountain bike season while sipping back select beers from Sierra Nevada Brewing and other locally crafted beverages,” said Todd Sadow, Epic Rides president.

The support, enjoyment and participation in Wine and Art events is growing in Carson City.

It is evident with the opening of two new businesses that offer social gathering art classes and the enjoyment of adult libations, music and tasty tidbits. Both of these creative businesses have opened within two weeks of each other.

Western Nevada College and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities will host a Journey of Hope Celebration on Friday in Carson City for 35 cyclists who are riding from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., to support those with disabilities.

Friday’s free social gathering, which promotes disability awareness and community education, is open to the public and runs from 5 to 8 p.m. in front of the Dini Student Center at WNC.

Many events are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of March. These Nevada 150 events help celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the state’s 150th Anniversary of Statehood. Here are some events scheduled for around Carson City and Northern Nevada:

The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will hold a public Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony and social gathering on Saturday at Mills Park beginning at 5 p.m.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located at Carson City's Mills Park in the southeast corner. The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road or Seely Loop, across from Carson High School.

The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will mark Vietnam Veterans Day in a short ceremony and social gathering on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located in Mills Park in Carson City, NV in the southeast corner of the park at 5 PM. (The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road across from Carson High School).

After the ceremony, a “Welcome Home” social will be held at the High Sierra Brewery Company, located at 302 North Carson Street at 5:30 PM. No Host Bar, free appetizers, and good cheer.
