Group meeting in Carson City explores building, strengthening relationship connections

February 16, 2023 - 5:00pm Discover connections. Building relationships that bring joy, meaning and purpose to you and the world around you. Its purpose is to promote positive relationships by sharing stories and tips that can help bring more joy to ourselves and others. It is a “gathering space” meant to serve people of all ages and backgrounds.
Why CONNECTIONS Matter
Happiness. It’s what we all desire, deserve and strive for. Yet, it can be elusive—often leaving us wondering what is missing in our lives.
One answer can be found in one of the longest-running “happiness” studies conducted by Harvard (Harvard Study of Adult Development). This study, along with many others, found that health and happiness are connected by the positive relationships we form and maintain over a period of years. Isolation, on the other hand, contributes to poorer physical and emotional health.
The concept for CONNECTIONS is based on this research.

WHEN:
February 16, 2023 at 5:15 and every other Thursday thereafter. The group will end promptly at 6:15.
WHAT:
Everyone is welcome to join in this time of mutual support and sharing.
Refreshments will be served at 5.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each gathering will begin with one guest sharing one important relationship in his or her life.
The sharing may be about how the relationship began, how it has been helpful over time, what makes it special, or any other aspect of CONNECTIONS.
Others in the group can then ask questions or share similar stories of relationships that have been part of their lives.
All types of relationships are game for reflection: spouses, friends, fellow employees, family members, teachers, mentors, etc.
TIP: The ideal size for the group circle is 15 to 25 people. Because “the more the merrier” applies here, larger groups can simply be broken into multiple smaller circles as needed to facilitate an inclusive discussion.
The future of CONNECTIONS:
This is the very start, the incubator, for something that will hopefully bring joy and emotional health to many people throughout the country.
You can help shape the way in which CONNECTIONS will be successfully implemented in the social community, senior centers and business settings for years to come.
