Consort Canzona Early Music Ensemble invites recorder players for May concerts
Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers that specializes in early music, has openings for experienced soprano, alto, and tenor recorder players for performances on May 21 and 22 in Carson City.
Rehearsals are Monday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The instrumental group, including cello and harpsichord as well as recorders, alternates rehearsal locations weekly. Rehearsals with singers are at First Baptist Church, 1750 Mountain Street, Carson City; rehearsals without singers are at a private home in Carson City.
Recorder players who are interested in joining the group should contact Consort Canzona by email at consortcanzona@gmail.com, or by phone at Carson City Symphony Association at 775-883-4154.
The next performances will be on Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, in Carson City. The program, a Memorial Concert for Consort Canzona's founder, Sharon Kientz, is directed by Gary Schwartz and features the Requiem in F minor by Heinrich F. Biber.
Consort Canzona, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, is supported in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and by Association memberships and donations.
