AARP lobbyist to speak at Carson City Democratic luncheon

Featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon will be Mary Liveratti, who served as AARP's Nevada state president for six years before retiring in 2018. She has served as a volunteer advocate on behalf of legislation impacting seniors. At the luncheon, she will review the AARP-advocated bills that successfully became law during the 80th session, as well as others that didn't cross the finish line, including those likely to reemerge during the 81st session in 2021.

This weekend, I was blessed to attend Gaia Gathering — an impactful gathering of healers from all walks of life. I was surrounded by many modalities of healing from a variety of cultures: artists, medicine men and women, yogis, energy healers, and spiritualists. As someone who heals companies and leaders through communication, I felt right at home. The messages rang through loud and clear and you will see many of my a-ha moments translated into my column here.

Carson City school official earns state’s first Certification for Fiscal Credibility

The Association of School Business Officials International is pleased to announce Andrew Feuling, SFO, director of fiscal services for the Carson City School District, has earned the Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations. School business professionals who earn the SFO certification have proven that they have the required knowledge, expertise and fiscal credibility to lead their school district and effectively manage the district’s finances. Feuling is the only SFO in the state of Nevada.

Carson City Symphony’s 'Strings in the Summer' program begins July 8

The Fox Brewpub unveils a new brew to raise funds for the Greenhouse Project

The Fox Brewpub and the Greenhouse Project partnered to create the Greenhouse Project Brut-Session IPA, available now until it's gone at The Fox and at the July 10 Concert Under the Stars.

One dollar of every beer sold goes to the Greenhouse Project (TGP). At the concert, growlers and kegs will be donated as well as 32-ounce crowlers at each of the VIP dinner tables.

Nevada librarians catalog virtual reality content for worldwide access

CARSON CITY — Librarians from two states — joined by volunteers across the country — spent the day Thursday cataloging virtual reality en masse as part of the XRCatalog Hack-a-thon.

Nevada participants gathered at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records in Carson City to input the first virtual reality content into WorldCat OCLC, the world’s largest library catalog.
