Carson City has three art exhibits in their last week of viewing: the Spirit of America Show at the Nevada Artist Association Gallery, ‘Vantage Point of Distance’ by Dave Rowe at the Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery, and ‘Always Lost: A Meditation on War’ on display in the Western Nevada College Gallery. This week will also see receptions for two of those exhibits. The Nevada Arts Council welcomes Dave Rowe on Tuesday.

Annual Silver Dollar Car Classic kicks off Thursday

This Thursday’s cruise night kicks off a weekend of nostalgic car fun. Head to the Plaza Events Center at 5 p.m. for the annual Cruise Night Show and Shine, Music and Spirits and hold onto your bobby sox.

Nevada Author Releases Debut Solo Album

The self-produced album is being distributed worldwide by CD Baby and is available for streaming and download on iTunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Play, iHeartRadio, Tidal, and other music stores. The eight tracks on the debut album have also been incorporated into a sync-licensing program through YouTube and other partners.

Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

Many of us pass by as we journey through Hope Valley in Alpine County. Some may view it as a rest stop at Pickett's Junction. In 2001 the All Access Wildlife path was built in partner by the California Fish and Wildlife, Alpine County and the Friends of Hope Valley. It is located at the junction of Highways 88 and 89 in Hope Valley, Calif.

Improvements at Cave Rock boat launch will close facility for two months beginning Aug. 1

Muscle Powered's Trash Mob meets Saturday to preserve historical site east of Carson City

Ore from nearby mines were brought to the stamp mills to be processed and have the gold and silver removed from the rock before it was sent off to San Francisco.
