Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell joined the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and an appearance by Santa on Tuesday morning to celebrate the grand opening of Dunkin' Donuts at its new 2190 E. Williams St. location.

reAlign, LLC, a Movement-based Pilates Studio, officially opened their doors at 623 W. Washington Street by holding a ribbon cutting at their new Carson City location.

Owner Bonnie Lafave was assisted in the ribbon cutting by Assemblyman-elect “PK O’Neill” who congratulated her on choosing Carson City to open her business.

Another door has opened for animal welfare Carson City is proud to announce the official grand opening of Nevada Humane Society Carson City just in time for the holiday season. On Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m., the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host a special ribbon cutting in honor of a new beginning for homeless pets.

This week's It's Your City is with Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell. Before providing an update on the Board of Supervisors, Crowell takes time to update citizens about local happenings including the Dec. 3 open house and ribbon cutting at the Nevada Humane Society Carson Shelter. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at 3770 Butti Way. The public is invited.

Library Director Sena Loyd announces the grand re-opening of the Carson City Library and its newly repurposed auditorium, now known as The Digitorium. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from noon to 7 p.m. The public is invited to explore reconfigured spaces at the library’s 900 North Roop Street main branch.

The Grand Opening Celebration of NAI Alliance Carson City will be held on Wednesday, August 27 with an official ribbon cutting event and open house.

The open house runs from 4 to 7 p.m. This will be a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. The ribbon cutting is at 5:30 p.m.

NIA Alliance is asking for donations for the club in lieu of any flowers or gifts. The event is at 504 Musser Street in Carson City.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell presided over the official ribbon cutting to open the Fair on Thursday.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce welcomed Terri Baijounas, Farmers' Insurance newest Carson City agency owner, with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday. It is the chamber's newest member and latest business to open its doors on John Street.

Baijounas, who has been affiliated with Farmers Insurance for 34 years in Nevada and California, set out on her own in May of this year with a branch as an agency owner.

Many celebrations are scheduled statewide in the month of August. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Aug. 1 through Aug. 14.

UPDATE: Thursday at 11 a.m., the Wells Fargo coach will be delivering Governor Brian Sandoval, Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell and Wells Fargo Regional Manager Chad Osorno and Wells Fargo Northern Nevada Area Manager Sean French to Fuji Park in south Carson City to preside over the official opening and ribbon cutting of Carson City’s contribution to the NV150 Anniversary event, the NV150Fair.

The NV150Fair will feature over 90 4-H and Future Farmers of America kids from around the region showcasing their animals and farm knowledge.

As we countdown to the NV150 Fair in Carson City, we want to honor the kids that make the fair so very special. These are the kids who raise the animals so lovingly, yet are willing to release them for sale. These are the kids now bringing attention to the farm-to-table movement and are learning the value of a job well done.

4-H clubs were formed to teach our children the importance of agriculture and to learn new ways to better farm or raise their animals.

Bealls opened Thursday morning at Carson Mall to great fanfare with hundreds of customers arriving early to shop at Carson City's newest department store.

Bealls store manager Kessn Flitton said customers filed into the 24,000-square-foot store for the grand opening ribbon cutting, taking advantage of bargains, sales, 25 percent off coupons, shopping sprees, gift card and merchandise giveaways.

At least 300 customers went through cashier lines within the first hour of opening, said Regional Manager Lewis Rael.

The long-awaited Sportsman’s Warehouse is going to hold a really big ribbon cutting this Saturday morning to “officially” open their new store located in the Carson Mall.

Though they have had a “soft” opening this past week, the official opening is on April 5. Executives from Sportsman’s corporate and the Carson City Board of Supervisors will be attending the event coordinated by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce beginning at 8:30 a.m. Also in attendance will be the following beauty queens:

The Friends of the Carson City Library are excited to announce the Grand Opening of a beautiful, new Browsers Corner Bookstore on Saturday, April 12th at 9:30 am. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Dec 5 at the former Mo & Sluggos, where the owners will unveil a new name for this popular Carson City watering hole and celebrate 80 years since the end of Prohibition.

The party begins at 4:31 p.m., the exact time that Prohibition ended 80 years ago. Tony's Taqueria will be providing free food and there will be plenty of drink specials.

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for Tractor Supply. This was the day for their "official" ribbon cutting and soft opening.

The new store is now open for business on what was once weed-filled vacant land just south of the Gold Dust West. Store Manager Patrick Henley told us this is the first store to open in Nevada and Carson City was chosen because of all the small ranches in the area. Much research went into choosing the first location bringing us yet another retail establishment further assuring this city remains a retail hub for our region.

The Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute Class of 2013 will graduate on Thursday, September 12 after an intensive nine months of learning about Carson City and will unveil their leadership project at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada.
