Tuesday, March 7th from 5 PM to 9 PM Team Hope will be hosting a Fundraiser to benefit the Relay for Life of Carson City/Douglas County at Pizza Factory, Carson City.

Pizza Factory will donate a portion of the proceeds from the evening to the Relay for Life.

Today we say farewell to February. I’m chomping at the bit for spring and Mardi Gras means it’s just around the corner. The Sierra Nevada Forums return to the Brewery Arts Center with a presentation on civility in a time of political differences. The Carson City Photography Club is welcoming new members: every month you’ll find a different assignment. Those in the nursing field will want to attend the RN Job Fair at Carson Tahoe Hospital for new opportunities.

Start the Season of Love with a whole month of Share the Love workouts. Bring your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to these awesome, high-energy, Saturday workouts. Children 10 and up are welcome to workout with us. We will provide open gym/childcare for children under 10 for $5 per child, if they are preregistered at least 48 hours ahead of time.

It’s not exactly warm outside, but compared to some of the bitter cold we’ve had this month, it’s not that bad. Take advantage of the dry weather by joining in on the Parks and Recreation Easy Walk in John Mankins Park in Silver Oak. It’s a Jazz Extravaganza at the Community Center tonight. Mile High Jazz Band has teamed up with the Carson High and Carson Middle School jazz bands for their annual concert. The monthly fundraiser at Firehouse Subs makes raising money for Relay for Life as easy as ordering dinner.

The brand-new Harmony Sculpture Park at the Brewery Arts Center is the perfect place to make some music: the ribbon cutting is at 1 p.m. The new FoodMax will open in early December and jobs are still available: the job fair at Job Connect will put you in the running. As October marches along we find ourselves nearing election day. Head to the first floor of the courthouse to earn your 'I Voted' sticker now; early voting continues until Nov. 4. Another way to make your voice heard today is by attending the Arts Town Hall sponsored by the Nevada Arts Association. They are looking for the ways that arts and culture can be improved in the Carson City area, among other things. While the mornings can be chilly, a walk with Muscle Powered along the Freeway Multi-use Path will get your blood pumping.

Happy Tuesday, Carson City. Parks and Rec’s Easy Walk explores the Stewart Indian School. It’s a great opportunity to explore one of our incredible cultural resources. The Children’s Museum of Carson City hosts a special ‘Step Up For Kids’ event with free admission sponsored by the Children’s Cabinet: it’s a perfect time to learn what resources are offered. Canyon White is one of the area’s favorite singer/songwriters. Enjoy her tunes and some great food tonight as Living the Good Life goes acoustic.

Where has the time gone? We are moments away from Labor Day weekend with its Best of the West Rib Cook-off, monthly Downtown Wine Walk, Fallon Cantaloupe Festival, and Virginia City’s Civil War Days. Enjoy a walk in the Ronald D. Wilson Memorial Park, just west of Emerson Drive. Canyon White, the award-winning singer-songwriter, can be found at her weekly gig at Living the Good Life joined by Keith Alan Barnett. Dance it up: swing at El Charro, country line dance at Carson Lanes, or square dancing in Genoa are on the table.

Everyone is invited to come out and support Relay For Life at Firehouse Subs located at 3120 Hwy 50 in Carson City. Firehouse Subs and Relay For Life have partnered the last Tuesday of every month to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back. On Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., 10 percent of all sales will go to Relay For Life of Carson City.

Yogurt Beach is hosting a fundraiser for Team Hope of the Carson City Relay for Life! Come on in, have a great frozen yogurt and support a great cause! The event is Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 5 PM to closing. Yogurt Beach will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Carson City Relay for Life.

The last Tuesday of every month between the hours of 5:00-9:00pm has been selected as a night to give back. We invite the community to Remember, Celebrate and Fight Back by joining us every last Tuesday of the month.

I am quite fond of Tuesdays. For a weekday, they usually have some great offerings. Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

Kids won’t want to miss the Capitol City Triathlon: swim, bike, and run your way to the winner’s circle. Celebrate community at the second annual Sassabration and don't forget your bathing suit: the Carson Hot Springs will be free from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Find a feline friend at the Nevada Humane Society’s free adoption weekend. Last weekend the cyclists ruled our city, but now the hot-rodders are king of the road. The Rockabilly Riot is jam-packed with activities all over town: the races and booths at Mills Park; a street dance at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar; a tattoo show in the Community Center; a free concert at Gold Dust West; and Burlesque at the Nugget. Bike Month is only a third of the way through, but Bike Week in Carson City is coming to a close. For those taking their bike to work today, Comma Coffee and LA Bakery are offering a cup of joe on your way. Pedal your way to the Max Casino for the Grand Opening of the Black Bear Diner; you’re going to need your strength to get through this day full of fun stuff to do. The Nevada State Fair is in full swing and a street dance at the Pavilion starts at 6 p.m.

Canine companions can serve as amazing caretakers for those who have cancer. Bark for Life is a Relay for Life event dedicated to the dogs that give unconditional love and support to their human friends. It is a chance for people to be empowered through their canine partnerships filled with fun for the whole family.

With this year's "Paint Your World Purple" theme, hundreds gathered at Mills Park in Carson City on Saturday for Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.

You can probably take ‘beach day’ off of your agenda. Spring has been briefly usurped by a blustery chill. Grab a coat and hit the town anyway. The early spring farmers market downtown, the Cops and Kids event at the Sheriff’s Department, and the Annual Relay for Life at Mills Park are still a good time. The American Cancer Society will be holding its annual celebration for cancer survivors and caregivers at Relay for Life. The event will be held at Mills Park in Carson City on Saturday, May 21. Relay for Life is a family-friendly event with entertainment, food, games, raffles, bounce house, and other activities included.
