Milky spore is a bacterial disease used as an alternative to chemical insecticides to reduce Japanese beetle populations. This microbial or biological insecticide was one of the first registered in the United States in 1948.

Almost every year Carson City responders are involved in a swift water rescue. If you see someone fall into the river do not attempt to swim after them please call 911. Typically a current less than 5 mph is enough to lose control and be swept away.
