CASI begins work on dog play yard at Carson City animal shelter
Construction of the play yard donated by Carson Animal Services Initiative at the new Carson City animal shelter began Tuesday. Green Lizard Landscape began excavating materials bright and early to prepare the ground for proper drainage.
Landscaping is the first step in the construction project. Following the ground preparation trees will be planted, fencing will be installed by Florence Fence and dog enrichment equipment will be installed.
The play yard will provide an area for the shelter dogs to get out and enjoy some playtime while they await their forever homes. Getting the dogs out of their kennels during their stay at the shelter provides them with much needed exercise along with mental stimulation. It also allows the staff and volunteers a better opportunity to get to know the dogs which helps with the adoption process.
This project is made possible by the generous donations received by CASI from the community.
Carson Animal Services Initiative was founded to raise money to help Carson City build and equip a safe and inviting animal shelter to help our pets in need find their forever homes. Go here for more information about the organization.
