A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on felony drug charges after officers found methamphetamine and pills inside the mans’s vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

On Thursday, June 18, Partnership Carson City and Sierra Nevada Forums will host a guest speaker, Dr. Mel Pohl, who will discuss “Medications, Addiction and Pain Management.” 

The public forum begins at 6 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admittance is free but donations are accepted. The location is the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 449 W. King St., Carson City. A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 8:55 p.m. in the 2000 block Menlo Drive on misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and felony possession of prescription drugs without a prescription. Partnership Carson City collects 166 pounds of meds, 30 pounds of syringes in roundup

The Prescription Round Up in Carson City held last Saturday brought in 166 pound of medicine, and nearly 30 pounds of syringes, according to Partnership Carson City. The event was held at all three SaveMarts and Smith's.

They’re something we all have but rarely think about, prescription drugs. Partnership Carson City hosted the roundup eliminating the prescription pills and liquids and collected the 30 pounds of syringes to be destroyed.

Man jailed on burglary charges after discovery of backpacks, safe filled with jewelry

A 25-year-old firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service was arrested Thursday, March 5 and remains in jail on suspicion of felony burglary, possession of stolen property and drug charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Rory William Torvik of Carson City was arrested following an investigation that led to the recovery of a safe and backpacks filled with stolen jewelry.

Two people, a 39-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested Saturday in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road in Carson City on suspicion of felony burglary. Arrested were Deeanna Sue Byars and James Thomas Rebelez. Each are being held on $20,000 bond, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, at approximately 2 p.m. an officer was dispatched to 3200 Market Street, Walmart, for a petit larceny report. The officer learned the suspects were walking down Hot Springs Road.

A 49-year-old Carson City man, in jail on unrelated charges, faces a felony charge of battery by a prisoner. Inmate Scott Michael Tyzbir was involved in a physical confrontation Thursday, 6:45 p.m. with a prisoner inside a jail pod, according to the arrest report. Officers interviewed Tyzbir and the victim who had visible marks on him due to the fight. Bail: $20,000.

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on felony drug trafficking and sales charges after a scale and a shard of methamphetamine, weighing 7.8 grams, was recovered during a search through bushes, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Greg Lynn Franz was arrested on three felony and three misdemeanor charges and booked into Carson City Jail with a bail amount of $34,637. Officers were tipped off about Franz making transactions in the area of Carson and Robinson streets.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log for Thursday

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 8:36 a.m. in the 200 block of Hackamore Way on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area in reference to a possible structure fire. Officers were advised there had been suspicious activity in the home and that subjects with warrants for their arrests had been hiding inside.

Nevada leaders launch student prescription drug prevention video contest

Nevada middle and high school students and schools are encouraged to enter in the Nevada Prescription Drug Prevention Video Contest sponsored by Gov. Brian Sandoval and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.

This is an opportunity for Nevada students to get creative and use social media to promote awareness about prescription drug abuse and encourage their peers to stay away from abusing prescription drugs.

Winners will be selected from each Nevada school district. Final winners will be announced Nov. 3, 2014.

Woman jailed on felony drug charge after pills found without prescriptions

A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday in the area of Brown and Gordon streets on a felony charge of possessing prescription drugs without prescriptions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Lillian Kay Meyer, also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of bail conditions.

Carson City Sheriff's Office make multiple felony drug-related arrests over weekend

A home care provider was booked Friday into Carson City Jail on three felony warrants charges involving burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

Ella May Dix, 50, of Reno was taken into custody by the Carson City Sheriff's Office after the woman arrived at the front counter for the warrants. The three felony charges are out of Las Vegas Justice Court and issued Jan. 15, 2014. Bail: $80,000.
