Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Thu, 10/04/2012 - 11:16amSurprise someone with a front yard full of bright pink flamingos! For a donation you can have a flock of flamingos migrate to a residential front lawn in Carson City.
"Flockers" will deliver the birds to unsuspecting yards where they have been directed to roost, usually arriving unnoticed in the cloak of darkness. The recipient will be left with an explanation and care instructions. After 24-48 hours the Flamingo Advanced Retrieval Team (F.A.R.T.) will remove the flamingos and bring them to the next "victim."

Soroptimist Stroke to Help needs golfers, sponsors, donations
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 09/07/2012 - 10:06pmSoroptimist International of Carson City seeks golfers, tee or green sponsors, and raffle prize donations for their 11th annual Stroke to Help Golf Tournament. The tournament is Saturday, September 29, at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Golfers may choose to play either the duffer-friendly East Course or the challenging links-style West Course. Play on both courses will be a 9 a.m. Shotgun start, with a Scramble format. Cost is $85 per player, and includes a Continental Breakfast, greens fee and cart, tee prizes, and a Barbecue lunch afterwards.

The 2013 Nevada Duck Stamp Art Contest is sanctioned by the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners (NBWC), with the winning artwork to be featured on the 2013-2014 state stamp.

Today, a group of women from Carson City Crossfit's All-Woman Bootcamp,PINK, met their monthly goal at the Sparks Foam Fest. The Sparks Foam Fest is a 5k marathon that is filled with many obstacles similar to that of the widely-known Tough Mudder.

Fish are active and conditions are perfect.
The surface temps are averaging 59 degrees, and climbing to 61.5 degrees by midday. Clarity is very good, to 13.5 ft. Still cool enough on the surface to still be holding some nice Kings on the west side. 2 salmon were caught trolling Almanor West up to 2 lbs.
Trolling has been more effective than bait fishing deep holes and should remain that way until surface temps really spike. Like above 65 degrees.
Carson Girls U10 Softball – Pink Diamonds end season with a win
