Today will be more of the same with partly cloudy skies, gentle breezes, possible showers, with a high of 62 degrees and a low of 37 degrees. On the schedule today we have day two of egg hunting at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, an Easter Sunday service at the Community Center, a community bike ride, and more!

From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. Paiute artist’s work displayed at Nevada Legislature

“Willows, tules, cattails, and pine nuts are all very important staples to the Paiute people, being sources of food, shelter, and implements made with artistic intention,” she said. “I consider these works to be a perspective of my tribe and culture through the eyes of a Native woman, mother and artist.”

Dayton wild horses rounded up Tuesday by BLM, another planned Friday

Douglas County authorities ask for public's help finding vandals who destroyed horse troughs

Holiday Fire burning in Pine Nuts south of Gardnerville
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Fri, 12/29/2017 - 8:37amUPDATE: 1:01PM: The Holiday Fire burning southeast of Gardnerville amidst burn scars of previous fires in the Preacher Mine area is now about 55 acres in size and moving slowly through grass, pinion and juniper, Douglas County has said in a press release Friday.
Access is difficult and resource availability is a challenge, the county said.
Hand crews are on order, while one helicopter from the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) will be making water bucket drops on the fire.

A fire that began Tuesday afternoon southeast of Stagecoach in Lyon County exploded to 1,100 acres overnight, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
