The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold its annual Picnic and Membership Drive Saturday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dayton State Park in the covered public-use area. The club welcomes all Raiders fans, as well as those who are not.

The Fox Brewpub is hosting their monthly Whiskey Wednesday tonight, complete with raffle prizes and of course, whiskey. How much fun can you pack into a weekend? That isn’t purely a rhetorical question – it’s more of a challenge. Grab the kids for a day at the Dangberg Home Historical Ranch where storytellers are the featured guests. Locals are in the spotlight at the Rockabilly Riot, the Iron Rebels Car Show is for resident cars only. The bells are ringing at the First United Methodist Church. Handbell Ensemble group, Tintabulations, presents a free concert at 7 p.m.

SUNDAY:

Let the good times roll, Carson City. Cars, chrome, choppers, and kruzers are in abundance. Run Whatcha Brung at Fuji Park is open to any and all cars that can get themselves there. The Rockabilly Riot and T Bucket Alliance at Mills Park is an American Graffiti flashback. Cheer on our local motorcycle cops at the Extreme Motor Challenge, or hop on your own bike and go on a poker run with the Lords of Iron Motorcycle Club.

The weekends seem to start earlier in summertime. Head down to Mills Park for the first of the rat-rods rolling in for this weekend’s Rockabilly Riot and to catch the motorcycle cops running some practice loops around the obstacle course. Seniors can head to the Community Center for vouchers good at the Third and Curry Farmers Market, residency and income restrictions apply. Join Mo’z Motley Blues on the lawn of the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch for a summer twilight concert – bring a chair or blanket, I suggest some bug spray and a picnic, as well.

THURSDAY:

The weekend hasn’t even started, and I’m already exhausted just trying to decide what to do first! Live music, races, activities, and much more await you downtown as part of the Carson City Off-Road. Stewart Indian School is awash in bright colors, beadwork, and dancers from all across the country during their annual Fathers’ Day Pow Wow. Congratulations to the Show Tree Brewing Company by the Carson Hot Springs; their big grand opening bash includes multiple bands. Keep reading – this weekend has a whole lot to offer.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. SILVER CITY - Bring a lawn chair and a picnic to the Comstock and enjoy a morning in the shaded Silver City park with a free acoustic blues concert by Mylo McCormick on Tuesday, June 6th from 10am to noon.

He’ll perform on the town’s new outdoor stage, the Silver Pavilion, located adjacent to the town community center, known as the School House, at 385 High Street.

Several leading residents of Carson City pooled their resources Sunday to treat local public service workers to a barbecue at Fuji Park.

Sunday funday has arrived. You’ve got one last chance to hear the rumble down at Battle Born Harley – Street Vibrations is coming to a close. With perfect weather for a picnic, a day at Mills Park makes perfect sense, and the Carson and Mills Park Railroad is up and running for the season. Veterans and families from Carson City volunteered their time at Lone Mountain Cemetery on Friday by placing more than 1,000 flags over the headstones of fallen veterans.

Memorial Day weekend is finally upon us. Unless there is some freak weather phenomenon on its way, it should be gorgeous. See what Tempest the students of Carson High Drama have stirred up as they perform their annual ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ at the Capitol Amphitheater. The GE Family Concert Series in Minden kicks off tonight with Garratt Wilkin and The Parrotheads; you’ll want to bring a jacket, it’s still gets chilly once the sun goes down.

On June 10, 2017 from 8:00AM - 12:00PM, Carson City Lodge #2177 will host our 21st Annual Kids Fishing Day for kids ages 5 through 12. This year our venue is again returning to Davis Creek Regional Park in Washoe County, NV. because this event coincides with Nevada's Free Fishing Day, no licenses will be needed. The group will meet at the Lakeview group picnic area.

While many think of Memorial Day weekend as the unofficial kick-off to summer, its true purpose is to remember those who we’ve lost in defense of our country. Here are a few ways to honor our heroes over the next few days:

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. – Fort Churchill State Historic Park is offering a variety of ranger-led programs during the month of June. Programs highlight the area’s rich history and abundant natural resources.

It is time to gather up the family and gear and head to your favorite recreation spot. Memorial Day weekend is the kick off for the summer, and traditionally it is a very busy weekend on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Forest visitors can enjoy biking, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking and many more recreations activities this summer.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather. The Annual Cops and Kids Open House at the Carson City Sheriff’s Department is a family favorite with free food, activities, and games. Treasure hunters will be kept busy with the Genoa Community Garage Sale, as well as one encompassing the Saratoga Springs area of Johnson Lane. Because of recent storms and flood events, several parks, trails and open spaces throughout Carson City have sustained significant damage, including Baily Pond at Fuji Park.

Something in the Wind, a free kite flying event, will take place at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2017.

DAYTON, Nev. – The Carson River flows through two states, six counties and several communities before it ends in a “sink” east of Fallon.

It is one of few terminal rivers, meaning that it will never reach the ocean. Join park staff for a history trunk discussion, led by River Wrangler Linda Conlin.

The Carson River history trunk contains historical items, examples of local plants and animals, maps and photographs. Participants will take a short walk along the river and hear about the successes and challenges of preserving this precious, natural resource.
