RENO, NV - July 21, 2021 - Artist Selena Valenti cordially welcomes you to an evening reception at Reno Art Works Studio 2035 Gallery on August 19th, from 5-7 pm. This month long solo exhibition will feature a unique collection of surrealist oil paintings. Both original works and fine art limited editions will be on display and for sale with the artist in attendance.

Oil painting with a palette knife? No brushes? Although this may sound odd, Monika Johnson will be giving a demonstration on how this technique is done and the beautiful results with the use of bold color and lots of paint to create thick texture. You won't want to miss this demonstration.

Nevada Artists Association members have contributed to our community over the years. Perhaps the most entertaining story that has come from these moments in time is a snapshot of when one of their artists repaired a painting of Lincoln that had three bullet holes in it.

Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. We spoke with a forecaster from the National Weather Service about it and he noted that everyone has an opinion. Some folks swear this happens every Spring, storm after relentless storm through the entire month of May. CARSON CITY, Nev. — Artist Patricia Wallis has a background in plein air and aerial painting, having spent much of her 30-year career in Marin County, Calif.

Moving to Reno, she found a completely new palette of color in the landscape. Another change she made in in the past decade was a decision to work exclusively on copper, which gives the image a unique luminescence not found when working on canvas or board. Oil painting on copper goes back to the 15thcentury although it is rarely used by contemporary artists.

The Nevada Artists Association (NAA) announces the winners of it's judged "Nevada Day Art Show," which is now on exhibit at the NAA Gallery, located at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King Street in Carson City.
